JOB DESCRIPTION
- Toolbox talks are to be conducted every morning before any work is carried out
- Notes & feedback from staff is a requirement and it must be recorded in the TBT
- Carriy out a job risk assessment every morning along with the TBT before any work is carried out
- Actively support the companys Logistics Health, Safety, Environment and Quality vision and values
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to workshop manager immediately.
- Use diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles
- Rebuild, replace, or repair vehicle parts such as engines, brakes, transmission lines, electrical assemblies, and accessories
- Assign priority and process vehicle repair work orders
- Evaluate and recommend all repairs. Provide cost estimates
- Assign all vehicle repairs to personnel and oversee completion
- Assign welding and minor body work to keep vehicles visually/ mechanically sound
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and preventive care
- Locate and requisition all parts needed for vehicle repair
- Inspect work performed by mechanics in overhaul and repair of district automotive equipment

QualificationsMust hold a certificate of motor vehicle mechanics minimum grade two
